Outline Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Tbilisi. Day 2: Full day city tour of Tbilisi with excursions to the Old Town, major museums, churches and architectural monuments, and other sites of this fascinating city. Night in Tbilisi. Day 3: Excursion to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. We continue driving along the river Aragvi Valley and Georgian Military Highway. On the road visit the Ananuri architectural complex. In Kazbegi we explore the area and enjoy the views of the Caucasian Mountains, including Mt Kazbek. Night in Gudauri. Day 4: Visit the town of Gori. Excursion to Uplistsikhe ancient cave town. Night in Kutaisi. Day 5: Excursions in and around Kutaisi; visit Bagrati and Gelati Cathedrals. On the way back to Tbilisi visit Ubisi church. Night in Tbilisi. Day 6: Excursion to David Gareji Monastery. Visit Signagi hill-town. Night in Telavi. Day 7: EExcursions in Kakheti: Tsinandali Park; Visit Gremi, Alaverdi Cathedral, Shuamta Monastery. Optional visit to a winery. Return to Tbilisi. Day 8: End of the tour. |
